The 5 buttons: The Browser
The browser is where you find all your instruments. You can shift through them with you mouse or select a specific pack and go through them with your arrow keys. You can also smart find, you do this by right clicking one of the folders and then selecting Smart Find. You type in what you would like and it opens it. In the browser you also have tabs. There are three tabs All, Current Project, and Plug in Data Base.

What I learnt

BPM: Beats per minute

This is used to keep the track on tempo. For Hip Pop track the BPM is usually set at 90 but this can change depending on the tracks you wish to use.  

Recording my beats: On FL Studio you can simply lay down the tracks by selecting on the piano roll or you can record yourself by hitting the record button on the upper left and using the computer keyboard as an actual keyboard. After you have finished recording the beats will most likely be off the intervals even if you are using the metronome. You can fix this by hitting Crtl Q which will constrain them back to the intervals.

What I’ll do tomorrow

After having a basic pattern I can then begin to automate the sound. What this does is allows me to change the sound of my sounds over time. This is done by going into the mixer and going into effects which I’ll do tomorrow.

Problems Encountered

I had a problem with constraining my beats. At first the command Ctrl Q didn’t work so I saved my work and restarted the program. That didn’t work so I went online to search for an answer. I watched numerous tutorials but none couldn’t help me fix my problem. I then realized that I didn’t have the track selected and that’s why it wasn’t working. That’s what I call a dumb mistake. If there was actual problem with the software and I couldn’t do anything to fix it I can manually move the bubbles into place. This is how I used to set my beats but that is so tedious and time consuming.

Fl Studio 12 Beginning 

I have decided to start from the beginning and properly learn the basics. My skills in Fl Studio are so far sloppy and need improvement. My goals for this class is to begin by watching this Youtube video titled FL Studio 12 Complete Basic Tutorial.

With these skills I can then pursue certain projects and lessons I can then apply to my own music. Thank you once again for allowing me to join the independent course I wont let you down!

What I did 

What I did today was learn how to Navigate around Fl studios. I learnt how to switch audio drivers and the create a simple pattern.

What I'll Do Tomorrow

Ill begin by continuing my pattern and expanding it. Ill also broad my knowledge of Fl Studio and learn new equipment and where they are located.   

Today's Work

What I learnt:

When I open Fl Studio I begin by going to the options and then into Audio were I change the audio driver to ASIO4ALL v2. I do this because it
allows a fuller sound and doesn't crackle audio when I have multiple instruments playing.

Changing the settings

I then select the instrument I would like to use and then begin creating a pattern. I would place it where you the kick and clap. If I were to right click the bubble it has the option of taking me to a piano roll where I can select a specific note. I picked a simple 808 kick and used that for a base. I then added a clap a high hat and then a snare.

Problems: I didn't encounter any problems.
